About the event
A Seder meal is a significant ritual and ceremonial dinner that marks the beginning of the Jewish festival of Passover.. The word "Seder" is derived from the Hebrew word meaning "order," and the meal follows a prescribed order.
During the Seder, participants engage in symbolic foods, prayers, and rituals, all designed to retell the story of the Exodus and emphasize themes of freedom, redemption, and gratitude. The Seder plate typically includes items like matzah (unleavened bread), maror (bitter herbs), charoset (a mixture of fruits and nuts), a lamb shank bone, and a hard-boiled egg, each representing different aspects of the Passover narrative.
Family and friends gather around the table, read from the Haggadah, sing traditional songs, and participate in discussions that reflect on the historical significance of Passover. The Seder meal is a central and festive event in Jewish tradition, fostering a sense of community and reinforcing the importance of remembering the journey from slavery to freedom.
The meal will take place in the FLC.
